THE PIRATES’ CODE — A DISNEY BOOK September 16, 2010

When the Lycan Librarian is researching a subject for a new book, her recreational reading suffers. So many apologies for not having the normal stack of books to review. But here is something to share because this little book was quite a surprise. It was ordered online and when checking the status of the order, the librarian was dismayed to see it was a Pirates of the Caribbean Disney book. But upon arrival, it proved to not be a book merely slapped together for merchandising the movies, but an absolute treasure trove of pirate fact and lore. The most interesting of tidbits have been arranged in these pages and dotted with spectacular drawings from an array of fine artists. So if you have been seeking just a book or two that cut pirate facts down to a readable and enjoyable lot, this is a perfect selection to help round out your reference library.
Here was a lesson learned. I had heard “Don’t judge a book by its movie,” but not “Don’t judge a book by its film origins.”

This is such a good book that I think it made me like pirates even more than I did before I read it.
