Are you looking for a new idea for a get-together exchange this year, but everyone is feeling the effects of this horrible economy? How about going through your bookshelves and having a book exchange?
Every Christmas after dinner we play a game. We sit in a circle and throw dice. If you get doubles, you get to choose a wrapped gift from the pile that everyone has brought for the game. (But if you get three doubles in a row, you have to put ALL your gifts back.) When all the gifts are gone, there is one round where you can snatch gifts from someone else if you get doubles. Then the fun begins as everyone rips the presents open.
I admit, we usually do this with the dreaded white elephant gifts, and everyone tries to avoid those select items that come back year after year, but it would be really fun to do this exchange with books. Even then, there might be one or two titles that popped up year after year.
Christmas is all about getting together with friends and family, but it is sure is fun to rip open presents. This activity satisfies both, won’t cost a thing, and makes room on your shelves for even more books!! Have fun!
